How to get your Working with Children Check
Every Australian state and territory runs its own working-with-children screening scheme, under its own name, issued by its own authority. Find yours below, apply directly with the official government service, then add the result to your Skillio tutor profile.
Which check do you need?
If you'll be tutoring anyone under 18, you need a valid check from the state or territory where you're working — whether you're paid or volunteering. Most applications ask you to choose a category close to "paid work" or "volunteer work"; pick the one that matches how you'll be tutoring on Skillio, since that's also what you'll select when you add your check details in your tutor dashboard.
Each scheme below is issued and renewed independently — a check from one state generally doesn't cover tutoring in another, so apply in the state you'll actually be tutoring in. Fees and processing times change from time to time, so the official page for your state is always the source of truth.

Working with Children Check (WWCC) · Service Victoria
Apply online through Service Victoria with a Medicare card or driver licence for identity verification, then attend a participating Australia Post outlet if photo identification is needed in person.

Working With Children Check (WWCC) · Office of the Children's Guardian
Start the application online via the Office of the Children's Guardian, then complete identity verification at a Service NSW centre before the check is finalised.

Blue Card · Blue Card Services
Lodge an online application through Blue Card Services, then have your identity verified in person — most commonly at an Australia Post outlet.

Apply online or by paper form through the Department of Communities, providing 100 points of ID; cards are typically posted once processing is complete.

Apply online through the DHS Screening Unit's screening portal using a myGovID or identity documents; most applicants don't need an in-person appointment.

Register online through CBOS, selecting the correct registration category (paid or volunteer work with children), and provide certified ID as instructed.

Apply online through Access Canberra, or in person at a Service Centre, providing proof of identity and the type of work you'll be doing.

Ochre Card (Working with Children Clearance) · NT Government Screening Unit
Submit an application through the NT Government, including consent for a national criminal history check, then wait for your Ochre Card to be issued.

- Note your clearance or registration number and the state it was issued in.
- Open your Tutor Dashboard's WWCC tab and choose whether it's a paid-work or volunteer check, then enter the number and state.
- Upload a copy of your certificate or confirmation letter.
- Your status shows as pending until Skillio verifies it — once verified, the WWCC badge appears on your public profile.
